Florida interim coach Billy Gonzales was the latest to get ambushed with the Lane Kiffin-to-Florida question in his press conference on Monday.

The inevitable question came when Gonzales was previewing Florida's Ole Miss week, as the reporter asked whether he felt Kiffin would be a good fit for the Gators.

"I probably shouldn't even answer those questions," Gonzales curtly said.

The rumors are undeniable, but neither Kiffin nor Florida has confirmed anything officially.

"But I think he's a really good football coach. There's a lot of good football coaches, and he's definitely one of them," Gonzales further added.

But Gonzales, or even Kiffin dodging the question doesn't mean there might not be things brewing behind-the-scenes.

Kiffin has been the most-rumored, odds-on favorite to be Billy Napier's replacement at Florida. The fanbase already treats him as their next head coach.

Lane Kiffin continues evading Florida job rumors

The Rebels' coach, however, continues evading the questions, as he always has. Instead, he diverted the focus back to the Rebels and their winning streak, as Ole Miss now plays to get the best spot possible in the final 12-team CFP bracket.

"I don’t know. I’m not that far down the road," Kiffin said in his press conference previewing Florida.

"I said it last week, and you guys think I was joking — or the South Carolina (week), — like, everybody wants to talk about other jobs and everything. And I think you’re 2 or 3 weeks away from coaching for your own job, so you better make sure you’re doing really well where you are."

"Because as we’ve seen out there, I’ve said one win puts you out of the top ten. Now, two wins might put you out of the top 25 and three might get you fired. So, I ain’t figured all that out."

Kiffin should not be worried about getting fired, especially since Ole Miss has been practically waiting at his door since Week 7 with an automatic contract extension.

And that's not even starting with the several programs waiting for Kiffin like a child waiting for Christmas.
