Ole Miss basketball knew that when they appointed Chris Beard as their head coach, year 2 was the start of the upward trajectory. Yes, we saw good things in year 1, but after his first real off-season, when he had more control over the transfer portal and recruiting, this was the start of when AD Keith Carter envisioned things would change.

After a successful off-season, Ole Miss is ranked in the top 25 of the preseason AP Poll for the first time since the 1997-98 season. Beard has scheduled strong out-of-conference games but knows getting support behind the team will be another factor in achieving goals.

Chris Beard pushing for sellouts at home games

One thing Chris Beard wants to see this season is the Pavilion being sold out for every home game. He praised the fans for what they have done so far, but heading into this 2024-25 season, he knows home- court advantage can help them in those super close games.

After the exhibition game against Illinois, Beard called to arms again to the fans to pack out the Pavillion, the Tad Pad game, and the Colorado State game in Southhaven. He asked if season ticket holders couldn't attend, asked somebody they knew if they weren't their ticket, sold their tickets, help the team keep the home court atmosphere high.

Some of the best basketball schools in the nation have hostile atmospheres, something Coach Beard wants to see at every home game for Ole Miss. In a season that is being hyped up to be one of the best for a long time, the fans' support will help and will be fantastic for the players.
