The Ole Miss head coach issued a simple, yet bold statement to players dropping out of programs in bulk, purely based on the NIL noise they're hearing in their representation offices. Instead, Coach Yo urged the players to do a double-take and prioritize their development over buying into the hype.
"Ladies….where all y’all going???? And for whaaat?????? Don’t let people gas you up! If you’re valued & being developed why leave???" Coach Yo said in her tweet.
The culture Coach Yo has built at Ole Miss might shield them from the burn of the transfer portal storm, but in this climate, no roster is truly bulletproof.
What makes the whole situation worse is players being forced to decide their fate in a short window of two weeks, a change that is being implemented this year. Earlier, the portal opened during the tournament, giving players time to weigh their pros and cons and not rush the process.
This year, the transfer portal opens only a day after the National Championship game on April 6, 2026, and remains open for just 15 days, closing on April 20, 2026.
While programs are scrambling from their roster dissolving in the NIL hype, Coach Yo is betting on a strong developmental foundation outlasting 15 days of pure chaos.
