Ole Miss women's coach Yolett McPhee-McCuin was already back in the big chair while the rest of Oxford was still processing the Minnesota heartbreak.
Right after the loss, Coach Yo committed to something that would sound like your usual coach talk in any other case. But not with her. Caoch Yo hit the ground running for next season right from the moment the Rebels entered their offseason.
Yolett McPhee-McCuin doubles down on 2026's baseline expectation
McPhee-McCuin took to her social media to remind the Rebel Nation that another trip in March isn't an option anymore; hosting in 2027 is a baseline now.
"Ole Miss WBB doesn’t rebuild… we RELOAD! As long as I’m the Head Coach here I can assure you that I will work tirelessly to make us proud. I must admit that I feel like I’ve let everyone down. I didn’t meet the standard I set. But this feeling will fuel me moving forward," she wrote.
"The goal is to be a Top 16 team next year. The work for that starts NOW!" she added, setting the expectations straight.
Meanwhile, ashe didn't forget to tip her cap to a season that, despite the sting of the exit, redefined the Rebels' ceiling.
"There are no words to express how sad I am on how this season ended for us. I have enjoyed this team so much! The joy they have given me has been something I didn’t know I needed in my life."
"I’d like to thank my staff and players for their commitment all year. We came in with one goal in mind and although we fell short last night, our young women are winners & I’m excited for our seniors and for the future here!"
How she 'reloads' her roster after seven seniors moving to the pro leagues will be the next update the Rebel Nation will keep an eye out for.
