Ole Miss football suffered a heartbreaking end to a season with a down-to-the-wire 31-27 Fiesta Bowl loss.

The season was one for the record books, where Ole Miss became the team the whole nation was rooting for to win the Playoff.

Their cinematic season deserved that glorious ending.

The whole Ole Miss squad had given the season their everything, and everyone deserved the win just as much, but there was a particular fan favorite from the Grove that everyone was waiting for to lift the trophy.

Trinidad Chambliss will continue to be nation's favorite player in 2026

Trinidad Chambliss, the Ferris State transfer, had the most unprecedented success a Division II quarterback ever had.

The QB simply gave his all in each game, gradually making a special place in the Rebel Nation’s heart as they went on with their 11-1 season.

On days the whole squad was struggling, it was Chambliss and Lacy that kept the ball moving.

Unfortunately for the QB, the Lane Kiffin coaching drama was hoarding up all the spotlight. It robbed the Heisman spotlight Chambliss deserved.

College football only realised that once the Kiffin transfer became an afterthought and the Rebels continued to shine through the Playoff, though.

Chambliss lifting up the National Championship would have been the ending he deserved to his college football career.

Instead, he got a (controversially) failed Hail Mary.

The worst part of it all is the NCAA denying his waiver for a sixth-year extension, crushing the possibility of him completing his unfulfilled Championship dream.

Despite all that, the Ole Miss fans who religiously used the Trinidad and Tobago flag throughout the season to show their love for Chambliss will continue cheering on for the QB, no matter where he ends up.
