Cotie McMahon could make history for Coach Yo at WNBA Draft

A player of her caliber would expect nothing less.

Cotie McMahon's historic season wrapped up with her making even more history as only the 9th Ole Miss women's basketball player set to walk the Orange Carpet at the WNBA Draft on April 13.

Better yet, she could be the first Rebel forward/guard to her her name called in the opening minutes.

McMahon is officially NYC-bound. Her invitation sends a clear message about her draft stock: the league expects her to be a hot draft pick, possibly a Top 10.

Cotie McMahon a Top 10 pick?

McMahon consistently impressed during her time as a Rebel. Finishing off in style with the fourth‑highest single‑season total in program history (703) was a statement in itself. Her 34 double‑digit scoring games, setting a new program record, were another one for the books.

If McMahon's name does get called among the Top 10, she would be only the third Ole Miss player, second under Coach Yo, to enter the league as a Top 10 pick.

Armintie Prince in 2007 and Shakira Austin in 2022 both set that standard by going as No. 3 overall, Austin being the first one to do so under Coach Yo.

However, McMahon could be the first Rebel forward/guard to get drafted in the Top 10. Austin played at center.

McMahon already expecting to join the elite circle is a clear indicator of her draft stock. Besides the two, she would be joining Madison Scott and Marquesha Davis as the first-rounders under Coach Yo.

Given her record-breaking 19.5 PPG season and a physical frame that most scouts would fight over, there is no doubt McMahon will eclipse expectations and hit the ground running in the WNBA.
