Ole Miss caught their first glimpse of the spring practice after weeks of fans reading the tea leaves. It was a long-overdue press conference as Golding got behind the podium to take on the most burning questions of the offseason, and also dish out some spring updates.

As thrilling as Golding's answers were, the fans had also been desperately waiting for some validation on the major spring storylines making rounds. Trinidad Chambliss's eligibility legalities just wrapped up, making fans even more desperate to see his routes.

First look at Ole Miss football's Spring Practice

Calrion-Ledger's Sam Hutches shared the inside scoop from the Grove, from Pete Golding with his visor and clipboard to Chambliss's routes vs. air.

"In the brief period that reporters had access, Golding coached in the middle of the throng of players who were practicing punts and punt returns. It was an 11-on-11 drill," Hutchens reported.

"Golding wore a visor and coached with a walkie-talkie. He worked his way through different huddles and watched the returners catch punts."

Golding handling the coaching duties flawlessly further solidifies the trust he gained from the Rebel Nation after last season's CFP run.

Another major question mark over the gated spring practice was the quarterback room: with Chambliss back, how things stand with Deuce Knight and Walker Howard?

"Chambliss, along with Auburn transfer Deuce Knight and Louisiana transfer Walker Howard, and the rest of the quarterbacks, threw routes to staffers. There was no defense," Hutchens added.

Undoubtedly, Chambliss is going to be the signal-caller, with Knight and Howard providing positional depth. With that storyline clearer, the major concern would now shift toward how well the new staff can manage the CFP-level responsibilities with the Rebels.

John David Baker is considered one of the hottest OC hires this offseason. So it would only be natural for fans to be more curious about how things are working out in the offense with Baker, espeically that he's inheriting it from Charlie Weis Jr.
