The Florida Gators haven't given up on Lane Kiffin, yet.

A simple tour of Kiffin's family to Baton Rogue swept the odds in LSU's favor over Florida, who has been hot on Kiffin's trail for months.

Florida giving Lane Kiffin their all

But the Gators aren't letting the re-entry of LSU in the mix stop their hot pursuit of the Rebels head coach.

Per 247 Sports' Graham Hall, Florida athletic department, including AD Scott Stricklin, met Kiffin's representatives Thursday night.

The purpose of their meeting is unclear, but given the circumstances, it's easy to connect the dots.

What makes the timeline truly peculiar is Ole Miss athletic department arranging a meeting with Kiffin right after this, on Friday.

While the Florida meeting didn't bring out anything out to the public yet, the one scheduled with Ole Miss Rebels is expected to bring some clarity, in the least, regarding what Kiffin actually wants.

Kiffin's ex-wife, Layla, and son Knox, also took a trip to Gainesville before they boarded the private jet to Baton Rogue.

And standing front and center of drama, Kiffin continues to remain tight-lipped on his decision.

Tensions continues to grow in Oxford

From not even believing that Kiffin could leave the Rebels rudderless right before the College Football Playoff to considering who could be the program's interim head coach if he goes, the 180 degree flip in the talks has been chaotic.

The chance of actually missing the Playoff, after waiting for it for 12 seasons, just because Kiffin wanted a new program with newer drama, would be devastating for the Rebels.

Whatever Carter discusses with Kiffin today will dictate what's to come in the coaching carousel next.
