The clock in Philly is ticking as the AJ Brown saga gas shifted from a slow burn to a full-blown sprint.
Jeff McLane of the Philadelphia Inquirer believes, based on “sources close to several Eagles,” that Howie Roseman and Nick Sirianni will come to a decision on Brown's future with them "sooner than later", possibly in the next 10 days.
A.J. Brown decision to come in very near future
The urgency in their decision timelines makes more sense with the negotiation period for free agents opening on March 9.
And it is no secret wither that neither of them would even consider trading Brown if it's not a blockbuster deal they are getting.
There are plenty of teams who would be making calls to the Philly front office, and Pro Football Talk's Mike Florio put four on the watchlist.
"Teams to watch include the Patriots, Bills, Ravens, and Chargers."
Florio also touched upon Brown's market value being unkown, so the Eagles would expect nothing less than a second round pick minimum, with the maximum to be one or more first round picks.
"The price for Brown isn’t known. McLane suggests that, at a minimum, the Eagles would want a second-round pick. If multiple teams compete for Brown, the Eagles could get more."
Additionally, Brown's agent Jimmy Sexton has also started gauging his market value to brace for the imminent impact.
"One thing they may want is an agreement to delay the trade until after June 1. That’s when the cap consequences arising from a trade would be split over two years, instead of being fully absorbed in 2026."
"They’ve done a good job of being coy about their plans. But it’s obvious that he’s available, for the right proposal. Whether they get an offer they’ll accept remains to be seen," Florio added.
The anticipation is palpable in Philadelphia, as the Eagles will most likely make up their minds about their WR1.
