The Ole Miss Rebels will begin SEC play this Saturday against the Kentucky Wildcats on the road. This is a big opportunity for the Rebels to get revenge for last season's stunning loss in Oxford that has left a sour taste in the mouths of anyone associated with the Ole Miss program.
Kentucky struggled last season, going 4-8 and the pressure and malaise around Mark Stoops program has never been higher. Kentucky started off the season with a close call against Toledo, as they were able to pull off a 24-16 victory.
Kentucky has turned to 6th year QB Zach Calzada who has stops at Texas A&M, Auburn, and Incarnate Ward. He struggled in his first game for the wildcats, completing just 10 of his 23 passes for 85 yards and an interception. The Kentucky offense is certainly not explosive. They do have a duo of transfer running backs with some juice. F
First, is a name that should sound familiar to Rebel fans, Dante Dowdell. He carried the ball 14 times for 129 yards and a touchdown. The other is Seth McGowan who put up 78 yards and a touchdown on 18 touches in week 1.
Kentucky lost a lot of their starters from last year's defense, however one thing with a Mark Stoops coached team is that they will always be sound defensively and play hard on that side of the ball. This will be a nice challenge for Austin Simmons as he will make both is first SEC and first road start of his career.
