History arrives in Oxford this Saturday. The Vaught-Hemingway is primed, and the Grove is bustling with anticipation to host the Ole Miss Rebels' first-ever College Football Playoff game.
The No. 6 Rebels enter the Playoff with their most successful run (11-1, 7-1 SEC) in 60 years; only now it's Pete Golding calling the shots instead of the head coach who was there back in August.
Their opponents, the No. 11 Tulane Green Wave, come in equally magnanimous stakes as the AAC Champions.
Truth be told, the AAC Championship isn't actually what's cranking up the stakes for Jon Sumrall’s squad; it’s the chance to finally get some revenge.
The Green Wave had one of their worst nights of the regular season when the Rebels took them to the woodshed in a 45-10 game. Now, they will be hunting for payback.

Regular season record: Ole Miss vs. Tulane
The 11-1 Ole Miss enters the post-season with just one loss against Georgia this season in a one-score game. Kiffin's leadership, paired with Chambliss and Lacy saving the day, has saved the Rebels most nights against all their opponents except Georgia, the latest one being their in-state rival, the Mississippi State Bulldogs in the Egg Bowl.
The Green Wave also had an unexpectedly good season, finishing off with 11-2, 7-1 AAC in style. One of the two losses of Sumrall's squad was the massive loss against Ole Miss, and the second was a 48-26 fall against conference rivals UTSA.
They have been on a roll since the UTSA loss though, winning five straight games to puch their ticket to the Playoff.
Series history
This is the 74th matchup between the schools. Ole Miss came out swinging in their most recent matchup in the 2025 regular season, with a landslide 45-10 win. Before that, the two met in Oxford in 2021, and the Rebels came out winning in a 61-21 game.
These two wins are part of the 14-win streak Ole Miss boasts against Tulane.
Tulane last defeated Ole Miss in 1988, a 14-9 win in Oxford.
Ole Miss is in the drivers seat in the head-to-head record, too, with a 44–28 lead.
It will be a golden opportunity for Sumrall to permanently etch his name in Tulane's books, besides Ronald Reagan, with one foot already in Gainesville.
