Hunter Yurachek's Ole Miss-Texas A&M ranking logic infuriated the Aggies fans

Texas A&M's fanbase was perhaps one of the most disappointed ones, besides Notre Dame, when the final CFP rankings came out yesterday.

The sting hit them the hardest as they expected the committee to drop Ole Miss a spot or two and give them the higher ranking because of their better strength of schedule.

CFP committee chair Hunter Yurachek said that was not happening, and explained the logic behind it while at it, even though most considered it a non-answer.

"Yeah, that just really stood pat. Those teams 5 through 8, none of whom played this weekend in any type of championship game scenario, we didn't feel like we had anything from the championship games that were played that impacted the standing of Ole Miss versus Texas A&M," Yurachek asserted in his media appearance post-final CFP rankings reveal.

Ole Miss fans understands the backlash the best

Aggies fans, we feel you. The sting is very similar to what Ole Miss felt last season after a loss to Florida crushed the Rebels' Top 12 chances.

An argument here could be that the Aggies have the better strength of schedule than Ole Miss. Well, the same strength of schedule managed to keep A&M in the Top 10 and get them a home Playoff game even after a very lopsided loss to an unranked Texas.

Then there is also the fact that despite having what should be called the most insane outside noise bombarding their program, the Rebels pulled through each of their regular-season games, and only stumbled against Georgia in a one-score loss.

The No. 7 Aggies absolutely dominated every single game they played this season, until Texas dethroned them as the best team in the SEC.

Both Ole Miss and Texas A&M finished 11-1. But what sets their single loss this season apart is the margin. Ole Miss's loss was a one-score fumble, while the Longhorns got a landslide win in the 17-7 game against the Aggies.

It was only fair for the Rebels to get the higher ranking at No. 6.

And if the Aggies fans are confident enough about their team deserving a higher seed, they should be fairly confident about Mike Elko's squad coming out as the better team against No. 10 Miami, whom they face in the first-round game of the College Football Playoff.
