Jaxson Dart Injury Update: Ole Miss star limps to locker room early on vs. Georgia
UPDATE: Since going to the locker room injured, Dart has returned to the field and is back in action for the Rebels. This has proven to be just an injury scare for Kiffin and Co., as his QB is good to go.
Things really could not have started off much worse for the No. 16 Ole Miss Rebels against No. 3 Georgia on Saturday. In order for Lane Kiffin's squad to post an upset win against the Bulldogs, we all knew they'd have to play close to perfect football.
Unfortunately, early on in the first quarter, quarterback Jaxson Dart tossed an interception, which led to a UGA touchdown not too long after. That wasn't the worst of things, however, as Dart got rolled up on in nasty fashion on that same play and he was visibly in a ton of pain.
He slammed his helmet in frustration and limped his way back to the locker room. On the ABC broadcast, it was announced he couldn't put any weight on his left leg either.
Ole Miss QB Jaxson Dart leaves games early vs. Georgia due to injury
With Dart injured, Kiffin had to go to his backup, sending out Austin Simmons to run the offense. Well, it turns out Simmons has a pretty dang impressive arm, as he just powered Ole Miss to a memorable drive against the stingy Georgia defense.
On the drive that tied things up at 7-7, Simmons went 5-of-6 for 64 yards, driving the Rebels right down the field. His impressive start to the game opened the door for running back Ulysses Bently IV scoring on a nine-yard rush.
Following that TD, the stands in Oxford are rockin' and people are fired up. However, there's still plenty of concern surrounding the health of Dart. Only time will tell if he'll be able to get back on the field or sit the rest of this one out.
