With every lousy result Florida had suffered this season, Cries of 'We want Lane' rang through the stands and onto the team forums. The fans may still be chanting after today, but Ole Miss's Lane Kiffin won't be the next head coach of Florida.

Gators AD Scott Stricklin spoke today and backed current head coach Billy Napier in turning things around at the program. Those Lane Kiffin rumors can be quashed now, and no matter what people may say, he wasn't going to go anyway.

Speculation ends over Billy Napier being fired until 2025

Most Florida fans would have picked any of the season's first four weeks to fire Billy Napier. However, his athletic director is now backing him, and Florida fans may think differently, but he has earned it.

The Gators may have lost two of their last four. However, one was a six-point loss on the road to Texas, the other a 34-20 loss to Georgia, putting up a battling performance. They had to complete the game against the Bulldogs without star freshman DJ Lagway, who was carted off in the second quarter.

Napier needs two wins from his last four to be bowl eligible. Though Florida State on rivalry week may be a victory, the other three teams are ranked in the top 16: Texas, LSU, and Ole Miss. If they do or don't make it to six wins, Napier will return to Gainesville for his fourth season.

It does mean those Lane Kiffin rumors can finally be put to bed. Ole Miss fans never thought they were anything but rumors. However, some of the fanbase were getting worried.

Kiffin will travel to Florida in Week 13 for a pivotal game if they beat Georgia on Saturday. How would Florida fans feel if Ole Miss put on a show?
