In the New York Giants’ 42‑10 blowout win over the Patriots, rookie quarterback Jaxson Dart concluded his first NFL preseason in style, shining once again.

In the finale, Dart went 6-for-12 for 81 yards, including a 7-yard touchdown pass early and a 23-yard scramble that showcased his athleticism. Several dropped passes highlighted his arm strength and accuracy on deep balls. These flashes of playmaking reinforce why the Giants' coaching staff moved back into the first round to select the former Rebel and why Giants' fans are buzzing about his potential.

Over his three preseason appearances, Dart delivered an impressive stat line: 32 completions on 47 attempts, totaling 372 passing yards, three touchdowns, and zero interceptions. He also added 52 rushing yards and another touchdown on the ground.

Dart has received a lot of praise from analysts and other people around the league. Last night, former NFL QB, Chase Daniel said "You can't tell me Dart isn't ready."

On that 23-yard run, Dart attempted to power through contact rather than slide, suffering a hit that resulted in a fumble, although the Giants recovered, and forced a brief sideline evaluation for a head injury. Though cleared under concussion protocols, the scare prompted a cautionary message from head coach Brian Daboll, who praised Dart’s “competitiveness” and “toughness” but stressed that “there are certain times that you’ve got to make the right decision … I would like him to slide on that.”

While Russel Wilson will still be the starter in week 1 for the New York Giants, Dart has shown that he is ready for this level. It seems that he has played himself into the de facto backup role above Jameis Winston. Now, if Wilson goes down in week 1, I could still see the Giants going with Winston over Dart. However, if the season goes for the Giants like many believe it will, there is a solid chance that Dart makes his first career start shortly after the midpoint of the season.
