Lane Kiffin seems just as done with coaching rumor mill sending him out of Oxford as the Ole Miss Rebels fans themselves.

That is why he didn't wait for the rumors to gain as much traction this time; instead, he shut them down even before they started.

It was a tumultuous few weeks in the Grove when the rumors of Kiffin to Florida had taken over social media, which were then followed by the LSU rumors.

Kiffin knew that another firing in the SEC would mean another storm of rumors. And that is why he addressed them head-on when the announcement of Auburn's firing of Hugh Freeze came around on Nov. 2.

What Lane Kiffin said about Hugh Freeze's firing

The Ole Miss Rebels head coach wasn't surprised by the news, and frankly, neither were most college football fans.

"I don't think (Freeze's firing) is as surprising as another one," Kiffin said Nov. 2, per the Clarion Ledger.

"I just think it's really where we're at in coaching. There's not a lot of length of stay. People make quicker changes."

But speaking of what Kiffin did differently this time when speaking about the situation, was reasserting his commitment to Ole Miss.

"I got a question last week about the openings, and people writing that you are going to get this job, and have this job and all that," Kiffin continued.

"I was like, 'I'm just trying to make sure we coach really well and play really well because the way things flip these days.' "

The Rebels' head coach had been fighting rumors discreetly all month long, even claiming that no dollar sign could buy him out of Ole Miss.

All that and the Rebels' strong-looking resume this season, which makes them a top college football playoff contender, adds more substance to why he won't leave Oxford for any other school.

The closer Ole Miss gets to the college football playoff, the more the rumors will fade.
