Lane Kiffin was sorely disappointed in No. 5 Ole Miss football's 24-21 win over Washington State on Saturday, and he made no attempt to hide it.
Even when entering what probably is one of their most important weeks on their slate, Kiffin is somewhere holding onto that grudge.
In his press conference on Monday previewing Georgia week, Kiffin was asked for his advice to QB Trinidad Chambliss to avoid another scare like Wazzu. Chambliss's missed red zone passing attempt in that game kept on hurting Ole Miss till the very end.
"Yeah, I think the first test really like that for both quarterbacks. We had the Kentucky (game), but this is another level, especially with GameDay being there and how the crowd will be," Kiffin said.
But his advice came with a subtle, veiled sneer, taking a dig at the QB's inability to handle the ball well in their previous game.
"So, you have to block out the noise and really stay focused on what we have to do, which is play really well, take care of the ball better than we did a week ago and let players make plays by you doing your job and not trying to do too much when you get in those environments."
Furthermore, Kiffin spoke on how Georgia coach Kirby Smart's signature style has been making insane comebacks in games dominated by their opponents in the first half.
"Yeah, I think Kirby’s done that for a while with his teams. You know, even if you go back to Alabama last year, how that game started and their comeback. And so, I think that you know, he just does a really good job, of even as you watch him coach on the sidelines, you can’t really tell what the score is."
"Because he’s so into it and his teams play that way. And he overcame the adversity of playing in one of the hardest places to play in Auburn just last Saturday. And so they do a really, really good job of not panicking."
Against Ole Miss, Georgia will definitely have the home ground advantage, which is why Chambliss needs this Saturday to be one of his better days in the SEC.
That is, if Kiffin gives him a starting role with Austin Simmons now almost recovered.
If Chambliss gets a start and messes it up like against Wazzu, Kiffin won't hesitate to let Simmons take over at this point in the season, especially when it is about one of the most important games on their schedule.
