Ole Miss was supposed to be Luke Ferrelli's alleged "affair on the honeymoon." Instead, his spring performance proves he didn't just leave the honeymoon—he found a soulmate in Pete Golding’s scheme.
Ole Miss DC Bryan Brown offered his assessment of Ferrelli's performance at the spring camp, and it has lived up to the billing.
Luke Ferrelli impresses at spring practice
"Luke is tremendous as well," Brown said. "I looked the other day on film, and I forgot this guy is a young guy. He acts like an older guy."
"He's in here acting like a pro. Done a great job as well," Brown added.
Brown's take on Ferrelli only proves that Golding's "green dot" talk wasn't just coach talk.
"The bottom line with the recruitment of Luke, he came here on an official visit prior to the Fiesta Bowl," Golding said when addressing Swinney's tampering claims.
"I told him, 'I want you to be our green-dot mike, but right now we've got a green-dot mike. And that spot's not going to be available until we have one available."
Since TJ Dottery has moved ships to LSU, the green dot spot remains wide open, and Golding has already mentioned his preferences for the position.
However, LB Keaton Thomas could also be in the contention given his equally impressive performance.
"KT, Keaton Thomas, he's going to be the middle guy in the defense, from a backer standpoint," Brown said.
"He may be one of the best ones that's been here in a long, long time. He brings that tenacity that you want from a linebacker standpoint."
For now, the green dot spot might be Ferrelli's to lose as the ACC Defensive Rookie of the Year from his time at Cal.
