In the thick of the hype surrounding Lane Kiffin's name in the coaching carousel, the warning signs against Kiffin leaving for another school are multiplying.

Florida and LSU are the top schools with vacant head coaching positions rumored to be looking Kiffin's way. Since the Florida rumors surfaced before LSU, there have been plenty of reasons as to why Kiffin won't choose to move to the Swamp.

But, ESPN's Matt Barrie was the latest one to explain why Kiffin to LSU would be a perfect recipe for disaster.

Florida and LSU just aren't right for Lane Kiffin

“I know people bring up the family, that’s also important. But as it relates to the job in football, what does everyone tell you? They leave Lane alone. They leave him alone. They let him do his coaching. They give him the money for NIL. He’s got Ole Miss in the playoff," Barrie said on The Matt Barrie Show.

Per Barrie, the reason isn't Kiffin not being a good replacement for Brian Kelly or Billy Napier. It's LSU or Florida not being a good fit for Kiffin.

"You go to Florida or you go to LSU, I don’t think they’re going to leave you alone the way that they do in Oxford and just let Lane be Lane.” Barrie boldly stated.

Ever since he joined Ole Miss in 2020, the administration has let Kiffin handle the reins the way he wishes. The administration that does not meddle much has been a core reason why he was able to build a winning culture in Oxford.

Kiffin could never have that in the Swamp or the Death Valley. Both of the programs are far too overreaching.

Florida has stayed true to its 'revolving door' reputation, and LSU firing head coach Kelly, pushing out AD Scott Woodward, and now the governor getting involved in the process completely supports Barrie's argument.

So, the LSU and Florida fans can talk all they want about their abundant NIL resources and the massive fanbase, or even bring up Kiffin's ties with the programs, but Kiffin actually leaving Ole Miss will remain a pipe dream.
