The Ole Miss football fans could never hate Charlie Weis Jr. no matter how much they hate Lane Kiffin.
Their former OC chose to continue coaching the Rebels through the quarterfinals and the semifinals of the College Football Playoff, despite increasing pressure from LSU to come back.
A large share of the credit for Ole Miss's thumping CFP victories goes to Weis Jr., who handled the offense so well that Pete Golding didn't have to worry about it at all.
And that particular quality really stood out to the NFL teams, especially the Giants.
NFL teams hot on Charlie Weis Jr.'s chase
New York reportedly reached out to the LSU OC after their primary target, Todd Monken, took the Cleveland Browns job.
“Talking to sources around the NFL, the name garnering a lot of attention for the #Giants OC job (now that Todd Monken is the HC of the Browns) is Charlie Weis Jr,” Connor Hughes reported on X. He added, “Wouldn’t go as far yet to say he’s the favorite, but he’s the name that keeps coming up in league circles.”

Weis arrived at Ole Miss the same year as Jaxson Dart (2022)…
This is not the first time Weis Jr. has been contacted by the NFL teams.
Earlier this week, Dianna Russini reported that Weis bowed out of the Eagles’ OC search. The reason for his decision is that he’s decided to return to Baton Rouge.
“LSU offensive coordinator Charlie Weis Jr. spoke to the Philadelphia Eagles about their offensive coordinator vacancy but informed the team he has chosen to remain with Lane Kiffin and the Tigers, per sources,” Russini reported.
Weis Jr. staying put despite being the next-hot OC in the NFL, and chasing greener pastures twice in about two months shows just how much he values his word.
That single quality easily makes any team want him more.
