Ole Miss has a clear no.1 target from the transfer portal, and they are pulling out all the stops to convince him to commit to the Rebels. The player is Washington transfer defensive back Thaddeus Dixon, who North Carolina is also chasing.
Dixon visited the Ole Miss campus this weekend. Lane Kiffin even attended the Rebels basketball game against LSU alongside the transfer.
Dixon is one of the top transfers available, currently ranked No.3 per On3. He is also No.3 among all cornerbacks who have entered the portal since it opened on December 9. If Ole Miss can pull this off, it would be one of the biggest commits of the winter portal.
A return to Washington is not out of the question
Thaddeus Dixon is said to have been happy at Washington, playing the last two seasons in Montlake after two years as a JUCO player.
Reports have suggested that Dixon wants to play as an outside corner in his final season. During his time with the Huskies, he played prominently at the nickel position, something he doesn't want to do.
As he is now in the portal, it feels like Washington head coach Jedd Fisch can't promise him a role on the outside. It's something that Lane Kiffin probably can do, losing both outside corners after the season.
The chance to play on the outside in the SEC against some of the best wide receivers in the nation could boost his draft stock significantly. He already has good tape for the draft, but this could make him a day 2 selection.
Due to his playing style, he would also be a great addition to Ole Miss. Dixon is a good run-stopper and can be used as a corner Blitzer, perfect for Pete Goldings' defense.
