Lane Kiffin's 2025 season has been quite historic so far with QB Trinidad Chambliss handling the keys to the offense, but Week 6 could see Ole Miss football making some more.
The Rebels' first bye came at the perfect time as college football underwent some major chaos with Florida and Alabama pulling wild upsets in Week 6.
Speaking in terms of how it will shake up the AP Poll rankings this season, Alabama's 30-14 win over Vanderbilt will most likely give them a huge boost from their No. 10 position in the previous week's rankings. Chances are we will see the Crimson Tide in the Top 5 in Week 6.
That, however, won't change Ole Miss's standing in the Top 5 much. And, although slim, there are chances the Rebels go past their No. 4 mark despite it being their bye week.
If they go past No. 3 and somehow rank as No. 2, Kiffin would be breaking a decade-old ceiling.
No. 3 was the highest ranking Ole Miss achieved, and it was in 2015. Ever since, the program has been striving to go beyond the mark.

Looking at the way the Rebels are performing this season, AP Poll's Week 6 could very well be when they make history.
In another scenario, where they miss going past No. 3, or even sit at No.3 this week, Week 7 will give the Rebels another opportunity to establish a new high-water mark in the last decade.
Kiffin's confidence in his squad is a reason enough, sure. But ESPN's model favoring the Rebels to win against the Washington State Cougars with a 98.4% chance adds more to their credit.
All that said, who Kiffin selects to be the starting QB against the Cougars will also heavily influence how the game turns out.
Ole Miss hosts Washington State on Oct. 11 at the Vaught-Hemingway Stadium.
