Ole Miss QB Trinidad Chambliss exceeded all expectations in his third start this season against LSU.
Austin Simmons' injury gave the Ferris State transfer an unexpected opportunity, one that he knocked out of the park by finishing the night with 314 passing yards and 71 rushing yards.
These 380 yards total did more than get Ole Miss a 24-19 win over LSU, it cemented Chambliss as a superlative signal-caller in the SEC.
Chambliss unlocked an SEC record on Saturday of being the second QB to rack up 300+ passing yards and 50+ rushing yards three times in a row in thirty years.
The first was Jaxson Dart, who unlocked the same feat in 2024.

Chambliss achieved this feat in the very first starts he made for Ole Miss this season. Unlocking a record that Dart could after starting for the Rebels for three years is something truly remarkable.
What's more mind-blowing is he unlocked this feat against a top-20 defense in the nation. Chambliss' brilliant drives made the LSU defense give up 9.6 points per game, a score that Brian Kelly is not proud of.
Not to mention, the QB led his former team to the NCAA Division II National Championship game in 2024.
"Today, beating number four LSU, one of our rivals, it’s a dream come true," the Michigan native said in his post-game interview.
"A great team win. The defense played amazingly. The offensive line gave me great pockets, our receivers just made plays, and our running backs, Logan Diggs and Kewan Lacy, just ran it in. Yeah. It was a great win."
Chambliss' performance Saturday squarely puts him in the Heisman conversations as well. FanDuel currently has Chambliss with the sixth-best odds to win the Heisman at +1500.
He finished third in the Harlon Hill Trophy last year — the Division 2 equivalent of the Heisman Trophy — in leading Ferris State to a D2 national championship.
A boy from a D2 school getting an invitation to the Heisman Trophy ceremony in New York as an SEC quarterback will be one of the craziest storylines this season.
