Ole Miss goes down swinging: Rebels double OT war vs. LSU ends in 10th straight loss

The Magnolia Bowl moved to the hardwood Wednesday, and it didn't disappoint.

Ole Miss Rebels left their all on the field, putting up their best fight of this season at home against LSU, but still came up short in a 106-99 double overtime thriller.

Coming off a nine-game skid, the Rebels' desperation to win was palpable in the Pavilion. beard's squad was determined to not go down at all, and even when they did, they went down swinging.

The absolute thriller of a match saw a much-improved Ole Miss squad, where every player fought to get a win in their second-to-last regular season week.

After simply outplaying the Tigers in the first quarter, and LSU barely making it to a tie at the end of the game, the two entered their first overtime.

Eduardo Klafke made 2 of 2 regular free throws to get a 90-88 lead over LSU, but they quickly fought back with Pablo Tamba nailing his two-point layup.

Ole Miss suffers a dishearteneing double OT loss to LSU

The Rebels seemed to be running out of fuel towards the end of the second overtime as LSU leveraged the missed throws from Ilias Kamardine and Patton Pinkins to cement their lead and come out winning.

Kamardine was the star of the night as he finished with a career-high 26 points. Forward Dia finished with 20, adding a fourth consecutive game to his streak.

A true down-to-the-wire thriller that had Ole Miss fans hoping that Beard's squad could finally stop bleeding.

What made the heartbreaking loss worse was that it officially pushed the Rebs into the worst losing streak in program history, with a 10-game losing streak.

For a coach like Beard, the territory is almost uncharted, unprecedented even. It is not just the worst record the program has seen in over 8 decades, but also the toughest stain there would be on Beard's personal coaching record.

Ole Miss still has three more chances left to put an end to it, and their next one is against Auburn this Saturday.
