Ole Miss basketball's fall to Florida in a 94-75 tipoff this Saturday officially made it Chris Beard's longest losing streak in his three years in Oxford.

Another loss and Beard will have the worst losing streak (10) in program history. The last time it happened was nearly 80 years ago.

Staring down at potentially having the worst record in program history, coach Chris Beard looked absolutely gassed in his post-game presser Saturday night.

Despite that, he found the courage to promise Ole Miss fans a comeback.

Chris Beard grateful for fans' support

It's easy to give up on a team who's about to hit a historically low record. Beard took to the mic to thank eveyone who didn't, and attended the Rebels' home game on Saturday.

"Really appreciate the fans and the students who came out today. Like it's not a secret that we're in the middle of really hard, adverse times right now with our team," Beard said.

"This isn't easy. But the people that continue to come out and support, the season ticket holders who travel to Oxford on a Saturday, a day where there's a lot of good stuff going on in Mississippi, and the weather's great. Just very, very appreciative of the fans and the students."

"It's hard enough to get up by 11 a.m. on a Saturday morning being a college student. But you put the fact that you're in Oxford, one of the best college towns. But then again, we understand that the team's struggling right now with the record and all that, but just a huge thank you for the people that continue to come out and support us."

Then came the promise that almost sounds like sweet talk, one that is desperately trying to hold it together for the next games.

"My promise to them, I make a lot of promises, but I'll deliver on this, that there'll be better days sooner than most people think."

It is not the first time Beard has promised a comeback this season. We'll see when the check clears.

The Rebels face LSU Tigers next.
