Ole Miss quarterback Jaxson Dart needed just 49 passing yards entering the Egg Bowl to surpass Eli Manning at the top of the leaderboard as the program's all-time leading passer. It took him until the 2nd quarter to do just that, thanks to a 17-yard pass to Jordan Watkins.

After the play, the ABC commentary team cut to a video from Eli Manning, clearly recorded earlier in preparation for Dart passing him. It was put together in typical Manning style, dry and humorous but with a sentimental message to Dart.

Eli Manning doesn't like losing records

Eli Manning likes to keep hold of his football records, so he isn't usually thrilled when one is beaten. This time, he was a little more content with the fact it was Jaxson Dart who broke his 21-year record as Ole Miss's leading passer.

Manning mentioned how over the years he has met with Dart, and watched his career, he was thrilled that his record was beaten by the senior.

Eli had seen quarterbacks such as Bo Wallace and Matt Corral come up short, but Dart made sure he didn't, moving to 10,213 passing yards in his three seasons with the program. He leads Manning by 94 passing yards and will hope he can at least hold the record for as long as the two-time Super Bowl winner.

Manning played for the Rebels from 2000 to 2003. In his final season with the program, he won the Maxwell Award (College Football Player of the Year) and the Johnny Unitas Golden Arm Award (Top Upperclassman quarterback). He was also awarded SEC Offensive Player of the Year and was First-team All-SEC.

In 2021, Eli Manning had his No. 10 jersey retired by the program, the fourth Rebel to do so. Jaxson Dart could see that happen with what he has achieved with Ole Miss. However, that will be much further as he heads to the NFL next.
