Ole Miss head coach Lane Kiffin handed first-year Mississippi State head coach Jeff Lebby his first Egg Bowl loss. Kiffin and the Rebels look to be handing their rivals another loss, working to flip four-star Bulldogs commit Tyler Lockhart.

Lockhart spent Friday and Saturday in Oxford and will now make the difficult decision between the Rebels and Bulldogs with early signing day just around the corner.

Four-star LB Tyler Lockhart will sign on Wednesday

Tyler Lockhart has been committed to Mississippi State since September. Still, after a weekend visit to Oxford that included watching the Egg Bowl game, Lockhart must make a difficult decision: Should he stay committed to the Bulldogs or flip his commitment to the Rebels?

The four-star linebacker wants to sign on Wednesday, the first day of early signing day. He was previously committed to Auburn, but it came down to the two Mississippi schools, with Lockhart, an in-state prospect out of Winona.

According to the On3 Industry Rankings, Lockhart is ranked the No. 17 linebacker and No. 5 player in Mississippi. He has visited Oxford more than any other school, and Lane Kiffin and defensive coordinator Pete Golding will hope they have done enough to convince him that Ole Miss is the best place to develop.

Kiffin and his staff are targeting the top-ranked class of 2025 players in Mississippi who are not committed to the Rebels: Quarterback Deuce Knight, offensive lineman Tyler Miller, and Lockhart. It is set to be an interesting week for Ole Miss, with a top-20-ranked recruiting class and more still to come.
