Ole Miss should heed Trinidad Chambliss's masterclass in handling Lane Kiffin drama

On one hand, where Lane Kiffin's silence has been eating away at the Ole Miss fans, and everyone in general, QB Trinidad Chambliss has stood up and spoken for his team as their leader.

The Rebels' QB proved his leadership when it mattered the most this season, firmly standing his ground for his team not being affected by any outside noise or distractions.

Ole Miss, take notes

“I don’t think we’re distracted as a team, quite frankly,” Chambliss said per USA Today's Blake Toppmeyer.

“I feel like the guys are focused on Mississippi State and whoever we play after that.”

That's quite remarkable from a guy who transferred to Oxford just a year ago, and was not even the first choice for starting QB. And it is precisely the thing that sets him apart, both on and off the field.

And this is not the first time Chambliss has backed his team up from the rumors of not being focused enough when they don't know whether their head coach would be there with them in their upcoming games.

"To our fans, this team is completely locked in, living in the moment, and staying true to our 1-0 mindset for the Egg Bowl and future games. We are unbothered by anything about next year and fully trusting Coach Kiffin’s leadership to keep us moving toward our goals!" Chambliss had tweeted earlier this week.

While Kiffin claims he has discussed the rumors with the players and that this "is a newer generation," there ought to be silent tensions lurking beneath all the confidence in the locker room.

Yet, Chambliss likes to keep his bullseye focus on the four-win streak Ole Miss has been in lately. He says, “we’re clicking at the right time."

Friday will most likely be another day where Chambliss shows off his dual-threat skills and finishes off with off-the-charts numbers once again for the Rebels before Kiffin drops the bomb about his future on Saturday.
