One more time as three NFL-bound Ole Miss players announce they will play in the TaxSlayer Gator Bowl
Ole Miss fans may have thought they had seen several players suit up for the last time in the Egg Bowl against Mississippi State a few weeks back. The Rebels will have a long list of players heading to the NFL draft in 2025, so with just a bowl game left, most would expect plenty of opt-outs to concentrate on the process.
This team is wired differently, with three players suggesting they will wear the Ole Miss uniforms one last time against Duke in the TaxSlayer Gator Bowl on January 2. Quarterback Jaxson Dart, wide receiver Jordan Watkins, and cornerback Trey Amos all posted on social media to indicate they will be there.
Will more follow suit and play in the Gator Bowl?
There is a possibility that more may play, but for now, it's just the three that have that intention. It shows the mentality of Jaxson Dart, Jordan Watkins, and Trey Amos, wanting to play alongside their teammates one last time after an emotional season.
Most Players opt out of bowl games if they intend to head to the NFL, making sure they don't pick up any injury that could jeopardize their draft stock. This is understandable, but some fans and media criticize such decisions.
The three players won't have that problem finishing the job and trying to help Ole Miss record another double-digit winning season.
Wide receiver Tre Harris is one player who likely won't play. The star player reinjured his hip in the game against Florida, forcing him out of the Egg Bowl. He has a chance of being a day-one pick, so he will concentrate on his fitness ahead of a potential Senior Bowl appearance after confirming he will declare for the 2025 NFL Draft.
