Paul Finebaum reveals why NCAA never stood a chance against Trinidad Chambliss

It's just how college football works now.

The Trinidad Chambliss eligibility drama is all done and dusted for this season, but there is still a lingering question beneath all the celebrations in Oxford on Chambliss's future: Did he make the right choice by returning?

As little evidence as that question needs that it was indeed the right choice, SEC Network analyst Paul Finebaum addresses one of the reasons why it was the best choice the Ole Miss QB could have made.

Paul Finebaum confident on Trinidad Chambliss's choice

"No," Finebaum said on his podcast. "Right now, he would probably be okay, but this is not the old days where they are making a lot of money; they're making opportunities. Most of the time, you're going to be better off sticking around and playing another year."

Undoubtedly, Chambliss is better off playing for Ole Miss for another year. Agreed that he would have been a Top 3 QB, if not the first, in this year's draft class, but what Chambliss has unlocked in Oxford with just an official yes from the court already far exceeds his draft stock.

Almost all QB rankings lists have the QB as the best returning and overall signal caller of 2026. With just a season where he did not even start all games, Chambliss has eclipsed the biggest QB brands in college football.

And the cherry on top is that Chambliss's 2026 season might make history in the Sip. Chambliss is already surging as an early favorite to bring the Heisman Trophy to Ole Miss this season -- something that has never happened in the history of Ole Miss football.

That single accolade in his resume ensures Chambliss becomes an undisputed QB1 off the NFL Draft board in 2027 and lands a far better rookie contract than he could have this season.

The Chambliss hype train is very much real, and Ole Miss fans are all in on it.
