There's an injury bug nipping at the heels of Ole Miss's O-line, and scaling back on the full-scale drills is the route Pete Golding is taken for now.

A few players were spotted on the sidelines in yellow jerseys, including RB starter Kewan Lacy. Assuring the temporary nature of the injuries, Golding addressed the minor changes the staff had to make in their spring practice schedule.

Pete Golding on O-line's spring injury bug

"We got a little injury bug right now at O line, as far as from a depth standpoint," Golding said on April 14.

The training camp in August is all about building chemistry in the trenches so the unit can play as one later in September. Mainly, it's high-volume reps to get the starters in sync. Besides Lacy, Brycen Sanders, and South Carolina transfer Michael Smith were also spotted in yellow jerseys.

Golding would clearly rather have a clunky spring practice than a banged-up August. That's why he mentioned the team dialing it down to 7-on-7 drills in a controlled environment.

"And we like two spotting things. So, whether you're a one, two, three, or four, everybody gets the same amount of reps to go through the script. So, we've had to alter a little bit of that and do some more 7-on-7 on the other field, instead of 11-on-11 just based on the numbers up front."

The update naturally had the Rebel Nation concerned about the situation being a simple, fleeting setback or a lingering concern for August?

Golding further assured that none of the injuries are season-ending, and nothing will spill into August.

"Nothing that'll go into August. Everything's just very temporary," Golding said.

"With this, we just got to do the best we can what we got. But no, nothing seasoning ending," Golding added.

The phase three in spring practice, where players suit up with full pads for a simulation game week will start from April 19.
