Pete Golding just showed college footbal that he plays Uno Reverse better than anyone else.
Just days after the Falcons blindsided them by poaching their defensive coordinator Patrick Toney, Golding turned the tables against them with one of their own former staffers.
Pete Golding expected to hire former falcons staffer Lanier Goethie
Per CBS Sports' Matt Zenitz, Ole Miss is expected to hire former Falcons defensive front specialist Lanier Goethie as a part of their defensive staff.
It would be a homecoming for Goethie since his time as the Rebels' linebacker/team captain.
What makes the expected hire interesting is Goethie could be the perfect replacement for Toney, mainly because he comes in with both NFL and college experience. Besides his time with the Falcons, Gotehie also served as the linebackers coach for Duke.
With the hire, Golding is making a clear statement on how he values the culture at the Sip. This is one of the many hires Golding made from the Ole Miss alum base, be it players of former staffers, in this team this season.
Plus, it was also the best revenge Golding could have gotten on the Falcons for raiding his staff room, and taking DC Toney away before the ink was even dry on his employment contract with Ole Miss.
Toney, who was hired on Jan. 7, left the Rebs after merely seven weeks on Feb. 27 for an NFL career in Atlanta.
Nevertheless, it would be refreshing to see former Rebels coaching the new Rebels to make a run for the National Championship.
Golding's fresh-looking squad will face Louisville in Nashville in early September.
