Pete Golding's first press conference as the Ole Miss football coach alone is enough proof of why he was Ole Miss's confident pick as Lane Kiffin's replacement.

While there was no name-calling, Golding landed a sloid blow on Kiffin's much-talked about extra activities when he was in the thick of coaching carousel rumors.

“I’m not changing who I am. I ain’t changing what the hell I wear. I ain’t do that sh*t," Golding said in his press conference following the release of final College Football Playoff rankings.

"I am who I am. We’re going to roll.”

And it doesn't take a village to guess who college football thinks of when hot yoga is mentioned.

Pete Golding's commitment for Ole Miss shines through

As messy as it was, Golding was ready to handle all the disaster after Kiffin's exit, plus the CFP chaos. His answers in the press conference was the first time college football got to see that commitment.

"We’re going to do this thing the right way. I’ve done it a long time around, a lot of good people. Right. And we’re going to give it our best shot and see what happens."

Golding has been around Ole Miss since 2023, so he fairly knows how Kiffin used to run his team. Plus, the Rebels' defense was one of the best in program history in a long time in 2024, just a year after he took over.

There is no doubt that Golding will handle the team well; the only thing left to see is if he would be able to pull it off in an high-stakes, tense environment like College Football Playoff.
