Alabama's Joe Cox to be the new Ole Miss Football tight end coach
A day removed from rumours that Ole Miss have a new wide receivers coach, they do have a new tight end coach. Joe Cox will be hired by the Rebels, reported by 247sports.
Ole Miss are set to appoint their new tight ends coach, with Alabama's Joe Cox the name that will take the open vacancy left by John David Baker, who left to take the offensive coordinator job at East Carolina.
Joe Cox has spent the last two seasons as the Alabama tight ends coach under head coach Nick Saban. Cox may not have been retained, with new coach Kalen DeBoer taking over after Saban announced his retirement. No reports have suggested this, however.
If the reports from 247sports are correct, then Joe Cox has landed on his feet with Ole Miss. Not just anybody is appointed to work under Nick Saban, so Lane Kiffin will know he is getting a talented coach.
Earlier in the month, reports suggested that Kelvin Bolden was rumoured to be in the driving seat for the tight-end coaching job. However, it looks like those rumours may have been incorrect, with Kiffin bringing in somebody from outside the building.
Cox will be working with one of the best tight ends in college football in Caden Prieskorn.. He will also have Virginia Tech transfer Dae'Quan Wright and freshman Jayvontay Conner.
