The Women's NCAA Tournament starts March 22, with the Lady Rebels flying the flag for Ole Miss Basketball during March Madness.

Ole Miss Women head into round 1 of the NCAA Tournament for the third consecutive year, looking to go further than last year's Sweet Sixteen appearance.

7-seed Ole Miss will play 10-seed Marquette on March 23 in South Bend. The Lady Rebels enter the tournament, winning seven of their last eight games. The loss came in their previous outing against LSU in the SEC Tournament semi-final.

Marquette's final eight-game stretch saw them drop three games. In their last outing against UConn in the Big East semi-final, the Golden Eagles lost heavily, 58-29.

Marquette averages just over one point more per game than Ole Miss (69.0), with 71.1 points per game. Both teams are near exact with how many points they allow to opponents per game, with the Rebels allowing 59.2. However, aside from the obvious teams, the Golden Eagles don't play the same level of opposition as we see in the SEC.

In a game that should be close, it could be decided by which team shores up their weaknesses. For the Lady Rebels, that is shooting efficiency, with Ole Miss ranked near the bottom half of the teams in the tournament. However, Marquette is not the best defensive team. If the Rebels can shoot above their season-average efficiency, they should edge out the Golden Eagles.

Forward Liza Karlen led the team in scoring (17.7), rebounds (7.7) and blocks (1.1). Guards Jordan King and Mackenzie Hare also chip in with points, with all three players a danger.

If Ole Miss Women play some of their best basketball, they should have too much for Marquette. However, it's not a team head coach Yolett McPhee-McCuinn will underestimate, with March Madness bringing out the best in teams.
