After year one under head coach Chris Beard, the Ole Miss basketball trajectory was shooting upward despite the disappointing end to the 2023-24 season. After a 20-12 record last season, Beard got to work to ensure the team could challenge in the SEC and make the NCAA Tournament.
The work in the transfer portal has the team ready to compete. With little time to try and recruit the 2024 class, and relationships already formed with players, Beard managed to recruit one of the best centers in the class, John Bol. Over the last several months, he has shown what he is capable of.
Beard already has two top-100 commits from the 2025 class, Tylis Jordan and Patton Pinkins, both four-star rated. The Rebels are also in a good place with two other top-100 players from the class, and Beard is also targeting the top recruits from the 2026 class.
Two of the top-5 ranked players from the 2026 class have scheduled visits to Oxford in the future. Kayden Allen is the No.5 overall player in the class and the No.2 shooting guard in the class. Caleb Holt is the No. 1 shooting guard and ranked the No. 3 player in the class, per On3 recruiting rankings.
The news shows the direction in which Chris Beard is taking the program, having two top recruits outside of the state visit Oxford. They are not the only two players Beard is recruiting heavily, with power forward Toni Bryant and in-state center prospect Sam Funches also key players on the list for the Ole Miss head coach.
Ole Miss may be able to land any of the mentioned players for a while, but it's a positive sign that Beard is pushing the Rebels to the right places.
