Ole Miss flip Colorado running back commit Rashad Amos, making it two running back commitments in two days
Does Ole Miss need any more running backs? Lane Kiffin seems to think so, grabbing a second running back commitment in two days. Kiffin managed to flip Colorado running back Rashad Amos, following up on yesterday's commitment of Domonique Thomas.
Amos, a former Miami (OH) player, entered the winter transfer portal in December 2023. On April 13, he committed to Ole Miss's rivals, Mississippi State, before flipping to Colorado on April 26. Lane Kiffin hopes this is his final stop, with Rashad Amos having two years of eligibility remaining.
In 2023, Amos rushed for 1,075 yards and 13 touchdowns, averaging 5.1 yards per carry in his first season with the RedHawks, previously part of the South Carolina program. He had just 20 carries for 106 rushing yards in his two seasons with the Gamecocks.
Yesterday, On3s Pete Nakos predicted that Rashad Amos would flip his commitment to Ole Miss. However, hours later, with the commitment of former Clemson running back Domonique Thomas, it became unclear if Amos would still commit to Ole Miss. Those questions were answered earlier today.
Running back Rashad Amos releases social media post on decision
Just before the announcement that Rashad Amos was flipping his commitment from Colorado to Ole Miss, he released a statement on his decision to de-commit from the Buffaloes on his social media.
Lane Kiffin now has six productive running backs in the room. Is there something else happening with the latest commitments at running back? We know LSU transfer Logan Diggs is set to miss some of the upcoming season as he recovers from knee surgery. However, is there another problem that Lane Kiffin has had to deal with?
There were reports that New Mexico transfer Jacory Croskey-Merritt may have his eligibility denied by the NCAA this season. However, no legitimate sources confirmed this. All we can do is wait to see if any news comes from the team. If not, Ole Miss has a top-tier running back room in talent and depth for the 2024 season.
