Ole Miss Football Grab Another Running Back Commitment From the Transfer Portal
We have seen that Ole Miss is in the market for another running back. However, it was a surprise to see Domonique Thomas commit to the Rebels on May 17.
On3 posted on social media on May 17 that multiple sources confirmed that former Georgia State running back Domonique Thomas is committing to Ole Miss. Thomas transferred to the Panthers from Clemson during the winter portal.
Thomas was a walk-on at Clemson in 2022 and saw limited action in his two seasons with the Tigers. The Alabama running back averaged 6.4 yards from his 18 carries, securing one touchdown. Thomas will have three years of eligibility remaining.
Thomas will join spring transfers Henry Parrish, Jacory Croskey-Merritt, and second-year Rebel running back Ulysses Bentley in the running back room for the 2024 season.
Earlier today, On3 reported that Colorado running back Rashad Amos would visit Oxford. On3's Pete Nakos also predicted that Amos would flip his commitment from Colorado to Ole Miss. If the reports are accurate, we will see if the news about Thomas will give Amos second thoughts.
Ole Miss Returns Three of the Highest Graded Running Backs in the SEC
Ole Miss has dipped into the transfer portal to grab several running backs. The Rebels running back room has three players in the top 10 highest-graded SEC running backs per PFF. Two of which were transfers.
The No.1 highest-graded returnee was second-year Ole Miss running back Ulysses Bentley, with an 87.4 rating. LSU transfer Logan Diggs and Miami transfer Henry Parrish also made the top ten, rated 78.2 and 78.1, respectively.
The experience that Lane Kiffin has assembled in the running back room is impressive. It feels that whoever steps into the backfield has the qualities to make plays. That includes New Mexico transfer Jacory Croskey-Merritt and the new May 17 addition Domonique Thomas
