Ole Miss Football: Bowl Records & History for the Rebels

Ole Miss will compete in their third Peach Bowl in college football on Dec.30 against Penn State. However, what does their bowl game history look like?

Ole Miss will play the Penn State Nittany Lions in the Peach Bowl on Dec.30. Neither team have ever faced off against one another in college football history.

It will be the third time Ole Miss have played in a Peach Bowl, losing in 2014 against TCU and beating Georgia Tech in 1971. They have also played said teams two other times each, beating TCU both times and splitting the other two games with the Yellow Jackets.

TCU and Georgia Tech are amongst a group of teams that Ole Miss have played three times in bowl history. The other three teams are Oklahoma State, Texas and Texas Tech.

The Rebels have competed in 38 bowl games in its program history, winning 25 of them. The Sugar Bowl is the most common game that they have competed in, doing so ten times.

The team hadn't competed in a bowl game in four seasons before current head coach Lane Kiffin was appointed. Kiffin made it four from four, securing his second NY6 bowl game this season. He is currently 1-2 in the previous three bowl games, beating Indiana in the Outback Bowl in his first season.

Johnny Vaught, who was the head coach of Ole Miss from 1947 to 1970, appeared in 18 bowl games. Vaught also leads Rebels head coaches in bowl victories, winning eight.
