Ole Miss was always expected to win the week 1 game against Furman. However, they obliterated the spread, scoring 76 points to zip. It was 33.5 points over the -42.5 favorites that Vegas had the Rebels at. The points total was the most scored in the Lane Kiffin era at Ole Miss.
Quarterback Jaxson Dart was impressive in the first half, completing 22 passes from 27 attempts for 445 passing yards and five touchdowns. He also rushed for 27 yards and one touchdown, which was the game's opening touchdown.

The most entertaining parts of the game involved Chucky Mullins Award winner J.J. Pegues. First, he scored a big man touchdown, rushing in for a 2-yard touchdown after a 10-yard run on 4th and 2 at the Furman 12-yard line to set it up. Later in the game, Pegues did a handstand when flipped by an opponent he landed on, much to the amusement of Jaxson Dart, who commented on it on 'X.'

Ole Miss freshman Austin Simmons came in for Dart in the second half, throwing his first collegiate touchdown and finding Cayden Lee at the back of the end zone. He finished with 111 passing yards from seven completions. Running back was the most productive running back from just three carries, rushing for 68 yards and two touchdowns. Kiffin gave all five of his healthy running backs carries in the game.
It also wouldn't be a gameday without a shot at a past running back while praising Henry Parris Jr. for his pass protection.
Shoutout to Henry Parrish being willing to block in pass protection. Not used to that from our old RB.
