Ole Miss Football Land Surprise Commitment From New Mexico RB Jacory Croskey-Merritt
Ole Miss Football has landed their first commitment of the spring transfer portal in running back Jacory Croskey-Merritt.
With Ole Miss head coach Lane Kiffin looking to strengthen the running back position, numerous names have been linked with the Rebels. However, a surprising development has occurred: former New Mexico running back Jacory Croskey-Merritt committed to Ole Miss.
The former Lobos RB, who rushed for an impressive 1,190 yards and scored 17 touchdowns during the 2023 season, had initially committed to Arizona on February 6. However, he has now chosen to join forces with Coach Kiffin at Ole Miss.
Croskey-Merritt flipping his commitment from the Wildcats to Ole Miss shows how much Kiffin wanted him on the team. Not just Kiffin, but the Alabama native feels that Oxford is where he can shine in his final year of eligibility.
Will Ole Miss Still Add Another Running Back From the Transfer Portal?
For the last week, Ole Miss has been linked with former Rebel running back Henry Parrish Jr. and scheduled a visit with Indiana RB Trent Howland. However, it was a surprise that Jacory Croskey-Merritt committed to the Rebels.
Does this mean that Lane Kiffin is done strengthening the running back room? Potentially not, with adding another body being a move Kiffin would still make. Croskey-Merritt joins Ulysses Bentley IV as the only healthy running back with experience.
LSU transfer Logan Diggs is rehabbing from a leg injury, with a return date still a big question mark. Redshirt Freshman Kedrick Reescano has yet to see any action at running back, which could mean Kiffin could still bring in a veteran.
Don't be surprised to see Parrish Jr. or Howland commit to Ole Miss. However, will either one be happy to enter a crowded running back room?
