Lane Kiffin has made it a special Christmas for Ole Miss fans, extending his stay in Oxford through the 2028

Ole Miss head coach Lane Kiffin has had a whirlwind of a few weeks. Kiffin is working hard on getting commitments from players in the 2024 recruitment class. On top of that, he has the Rebels ranked the number one team for transfer portal player commitments.

Earlier this afternoon, it was announced that the fourth-year head coach had signed a contract extension. It will keep Kiffin in Oxford through the 2028 season. It moves Kiffin back up to the four-year limit enforced by Mississippi State laws.

The terms were not disclosed this time. However, the base salary was at $8.85 million heading into 2024.

Lane Kiffin was appointed head coach of Ole Miss on Dec.6 2019. In his four seasons with the Rebels, he has a 33-15 record. He has yet to have a losing season, with the last three being winning ones. This season, Kiffin equalled his best-winning tally with the Rebels, making it ten wins with victory in the Egg Bowl. A victory in the Peach Bowl against Penn State would make it his best.

The contract extension adds to the buzz around the football team heading into 2024. Kiffin has been working the transfer portal better than anybody this month. He has landed five commits from the top 50 players in the transfer portal. Kiffin hasn't done yet, closing in on the top player in the portal, defensive lineman Walter Nolen.

In his four seasons in Oxford, Kiffin has transformed the team on the field to one of the best teams in the SEC behind the big two in Georgia and Alabama. The feel-good vibes around the fanbase have them believing that 2024 is the start of something even more special.
