Ole Miss quarterback Jaxson Dart pays respect to program that almost recruited him

When Jaxson Dart hit the transfer portal, it was between Ole Miss and another school. At SEC Media Days, he talked about the program he turned down to be a Rebel.

Jaxson Dart is set to enter his third season as the quarterback of the Ole Miss Rebels. In 2022, when Dart was in the transfer portal, he was down to Ole Miss and the Big 12 program at the time, Oklahoma. Dart was asked about the Sooners and what advice he would give them about playing in Oxford.

Dart didn't offer any advice to Oklahoma; why would he? He did show love to Sooners head coach Brent Venables and the program that tried to recruit him when he was in the transfer portal.

""I have great respect for Coach Venables. I think he is going to do a tremendous job with his transition to the SEC. Oklahoma's always been an elite program; they've always played at the highest (level), and they have been very successful.""

Dart followed that up by saying he was happy to see Oklahoma and Texas join the conference, proving why the SEC is the best conference in college football.

Dart confirmed his transfer choice was between Oklahoma and Ole Miss

As mentioned, when Jaxson Dart hit the transfer portal after his freshman season at USC in 2021, he had two programs that made his final cut: Ole Miss and Oklahoma.

Dart confirmed during the same question about Oklahoma coming to Oxford that he considered the Sooners alongside the Rebels.

Since arriving in Oxford, Dart has thrown for 6,338 passing yards and 43 passing touchdowns, reducing his interceptions from eleven to five from the 2022 season to 2023. Dart has also been a threat as a rusher, with 1,005 rushing yards and nine rushing touchdowns.

Dart will now look to help take Ole Miss into uncharted territory in 2024, looking to make the College Football Playoffs and potentially an SEC Championship game. Dart will likely look to enter the 2025 NFL Draft, finishing as one of the best Ole Miss quarterbacks ever.
