Ole Miss receiver Crystal Ball prediction to flip top in-state 2025 QB

Head coach Lane Kiffin and his staff have done a fantastic job in the early stages of the 2025 recruiting class. Could that be getting significantly better very soon?

We have often talked about the work Lane Kiffin is doing to keep in-state talent at home. With three commits from Mississippi already in the 2025 class, which includes a five-star running back, recruiting is going well. Could Ole Miss be about to flip the commitment of the No.1 quarterback in the state?

Earlier today, David Johnson of 247Sports Inside the Rebels logged a Crystal Ball pick for Ole Miss to flip QB Deuce Knight from Notre Dame. Knight, the No. 3 ranked player in Mississippi and the No. 8 quarterback in the class, has been committed to the Fighting Irish since September 2023.

If this does happen, it would be a massive commitment for the Rebels, landing another top prospect from in-state. According to 247Sports rankings, Lane Kiffin would have landed the No.2 and No. 3 players from Mississippi, with No.2 running back Akylin Dear. It would leave the No.1 ranked player, Caleb Cunningham. Ole Miss is battling it out with rivals Mississippi State for his commitment.

If Knight commits to the Rebels, would that mean a significant shift for Ole Miss to land Cunningham? It would be a masterstroke from Lane Kiffin to land the top three 2025 recruits out of Mississippi: a quarterback, running back, and wide receiver.

Is the commitment of 2025 QB Keelon Russell less likely now?

On April 29, David Johnson logged a Crystal Ball prediction for another 2025 quarterback to flip their commitment. Keelon Russell, who is committed to SMU, was logged as a flip candidate to Ole Miss. Russell had been on a visit to Oxford days before the prediction.

What does this mean if Deuce Knight flips his commitment to Ole Miss? It likely means Keelon Russell is not heading to Oxford to join Lane Kiffin. Having two top-ten-ranked 2025 QBs committed is unlikely but not impossible.

We will now wait to see if anything unfolds for Lane Kiffin and Ole Miss over the coming weeks.
