Ole Miss took the victory against Furman in a low-scoring EA Sports CFB 25 game simulation
We took to the EA Sports CFB game to simulate the week 1 game between Ole Miss and Furman. It was a surprising score, with the Rebels still coming out with the victory. Vegas has the spread at -42.5, with Jaxson Dart and the offense not even close to covering, winning 31-6. Lane Kiffin's side only led 14-3 at the half, but 17 second-half points secured any chance of a shock result.
Dart did little with his arm, with the running game handling most of the work and the scoring. Rashad Amos led the team in rushing, with 18 attempts for 75 rushing yards and a touchdown. Amos also had one reception that led to a 10-yard touchdown. Ulysses Bentley IV rushed for 72 yards from 11 attempts, adding a touchdown. The third rushing touchdown came from Henry Parrish Jr., who also had 37 rushing yards.
Tre Harris led the receiving stats with six receptions for 68 yards, tight end Caden Prieskorn had 38 yards, and Antwane Wells had 44 reception yards from two catches. Dart only threw the ball 16 times, completing 13 passes for 167 passing yards, with a completion rate of 84%. He did throw that lone passing touchdown and also rushed seven times for 26 yards. The other score in the game came from the boot of Caden Davis, with a 45-yard field goal.
The defense showed up for Ole Miss, allowing just two field goals for the Paladins. Brandon Turnage led the team in tackles with ten, had one tackle for loss, and shared a sack with edge Princely Umanmielen. Walter Nolen had the other sack, alongside four tackles. The big defensive play came from defensive back Key Lawrence, who had an interception and six tackles.
It was a win for the Rebels but a low-scoring one. When it comes to the actual game tomorrow, I expect Ole Miss to cover the spread and see more of the passing game. The game obviously didn't take into account that Jordan Watkins and Antwane Wells could be out. If that is the case, we should see more of sophomore receivers Ayden Williams and Cayden Lee.
This will be a weekly fun article. The EA Sports CFB 25 game is not a reliable simulator of how games could play out. However, who doesn't love reading about game simulation outcomes? We will see tomorrow if EA got anything right.
