Week 0 of college football is happening today, which means we are just one week away from Ole Miss taking the field against Furman. The Rebels will be ranked No.6 as they head into week 1, good enough for home-field advantage in the first round of the college football playoffs. Twelve regular season games will determine if they make the top 12, and three ESPN College GameDay hosts believe they will make it, with one not so sure.

Nick Saban, Desmond Howard, and Pat McAfee all had Ole Miss inside their top 12, all three predicting they would be the home team in the first round. Kirk Herbstreit was the only member of the crew to have Ole Miss outside the playoffs. Herbstreit had the Rebels as the first team out, with Georgia, Texas, and Missouri as the SEC teams making it in.

Despite having them out, Herbstreit did seem on the fence with Lane Kiffin's team, saying he wanted to see if they could get over the hump against some of the big teams. He also had Oklahoma State as the second team out. One team he had in the top 12 was Florida State, which dealt their CFP chances a blow, losing to conference rivals Georgia Tech.

Desmond Howard had Ole Miss as the No.6 rank facing No.11 Notre Dame at home. Nick Saban had them ranked No.8, playing at home again, this time facing Penn State. Pat McAfee had the Rebels ranked the highest in his predicted playoff bracket, ranked No.5, playing Group of 5 team Boise State.

With the first shock of the college football season happening across the seas, as the No.10 ranked Florida State went to 0-1 on the season, it feels that it's just the start of the many more twists and turns in the first season of the 12-team playoff format.
