Reports surfaced that Ole Miss defensive tackle arrested on Sunday evening
With just over a week until the new college football season, some reported bad news for the Ole Miss program has been reported. Defensive tackle Zxavian Harris was arrested on Sunday evening on charges of domestic violence and resisting arrest, according to records from the Lafayette County Sheriff's Department obtained by The Clarion-Ledger.
Harris is set to be a key rotational piece along the defensive line for the Rebels this season. Jared Ivey, Walter Nolen, and JJ Pegues are set to be the front three starters, with Akelo Stone, Chris Hardie, and Harris set to be part of the back-ups ready to rotate in.
During the 2023 season, Harris totaled 30 tackles and one sack, appearing in eight games for the Rebels. He was a four-star recruit from the 2022 recruiting class and saw some action as a true freshman.
It's not the first time Harris has had off-field problems; back in July 2023, Harris was charged with driving under the influence, felony fleeing, reckless driving, being a minor in possession, not using headlights, and running a stop sign.
The Rebels start their season on August 31, facing FCS side Furman at the Vaught-Hemingway Stadium.
