Should Ole Miss fans like Pat McAfee now after he backs them this season
ESPN College GameDay is as popular as ever, and even if you don't watch it, you will hear about the hosts' opinions across your social media. If you didn't tune in for the ESPN build-up to the Georgia Tech vs. Florida State game in Dublin, Ireland, controversial host Pat McAfee was complimentary of the Ole Miss program.
The hosts, Rece Davis, Desmond Howard, Kirk Herbstreit, Pat McAfee, and Nick Saban, were discussing the AP Top 25 and the SEC when McAfee jumped in and brought up Lane Kiffin and the Ole Miss program.
""How about Lane Kiffin this year. This feels like the Ole Miss year. It feels like this is the year for Lane Kiffin and Ole Miss to do it (CFPs). Two transfers in on the defensive line, from Texas A&M and Florida, so they beef up that entire thing. But the schedule, not easy at all.""
- Pat McAfee on ESPN College GameDay
It's nice to hear analysts mention the strength of the schedule, with McAfee agreeing with Nick Saban that the Ole Miss schedule is challenging. Because the Rebels' schedule is seen as one of the weakest in the SEC, it feels like the media expect a cakewalk to the college football playoffs. However, whoever you play in the SEC, it takes work to win, especially playing on the road, with Florida, LSU, Arkansas, and South Carolina to face away from Oxford.
It does help that only one of those road games will be guaranteed to be at night, with that being the LSU game in Baton Rouge. The first SEC road game of the season against South Carolina could be bumped to a night game but could also be an afternoon one.
With McAfee in on Ole Miss, if you are not a fan of his, cut him some slack until he sticks the boot in later in the season, which is probably going to happen.
