In a major recruiting victory, Nassir “Nascar” McCoy, a four‑star secondary prospect out of Buford High (GA), has officially committed to Ole Miss for the Class of 2026. The safety chose the Rebels over notable finalists including Georgia, Michigan, Miami, and Texas A&M, with the announcement coming Friday, July 25, 2025.

Lane Kiffin and staff have been on a tear lately on the recruiting trail. McCoy is the fifth defensive back committed in the 2026 class, joining other prospects like Craig Tutt, who committed a week ago, Iverson McCoy, Jett Goldsberry, and Braylen Williams. His addition elevates Ole Miss to 16 commitments in the class so far. As the season approaches, there are still several big Rebel targets set to announce their commitments.

McCoy revealed that a combination of strong recruiting relationships and a comfortable campus vibe propelled his decision. In an interview with On3, McCoy said, "Oxford is a great place with great people, and it is a small town like Buford. It reminds me of home. Oxford is a small town, it is a loving place, and it just feels right for me."

He also spoke about his relationship with the Ole Miss coaching staff. "Coach Neighbors is a great coach. He knows safeties, he knows SEC football, and we have a great relationship. Coach Golding is the mastermind behind the Ole Miss defense...Coach Kiffin and I have a great relationship. We have talked about a lot of things, we play pickleball when I am down there, and he is an exciting head coach to play for."

Listed at 6'2″, 180 lbs, McCoy ranks among the top safeties in the 2026 cycle. Nascar plays for Burford High School in Georgia, a national powerhouse football program. Rivals has McCoy listed as a four-star, ranked as the #144 nationally and the 9th best safety in the country. However, McCoy is only listed as a three-star prospect in industry composite rankings. Take one look at his offer sheet, which totals over 40 programs, including Alabama, Georgia, Florida, Michigan and Ohio State.
