Ole Miss fans did not sign up for all this Lane Kiffin drama just when the Rebels had it all this season to finish in the post-season.

AD Keith Carter's message following his meet with Kiffin gave away nothing about his future, but it was enough to figure out that something undeniable has been brewing behind the scenes all along.

LSU about to make their final push for Lane Kiffin

Yahoo Sports' Ross Dellenger reported LSU laying their final cards on the table in their unwavering pursuit of the 50-year-old Rebels' head coach.

"While specific details of the contract remain fluid, sources told Yahoo Sports that school executives have discussed a seven-year, incentive-laden deal worth at least $90 million — figures that would make Kiffin, at the very least, tied for the highest-paid coach in the sport," Dellenger reported Friday.

More importantly, the school is offering a massive NIL deal to Kiffin, who previously stated it was his priority when considering other head coaching positions.

"The school is, as well, promising significant NIL-related roster investments exceeding $25 million — perhaps the most important determining factor for the coach."

The push that LSU made was inevitable, and it could be the string that pulls Kiffin towards the Tigers.

That said, Kiffin continues to remain publicly indecisive about his future, leaving every team hanging.

It is particularly cruel for Ole Miss as they prepare to enter the College Football Playoff for the first time since CFP started in 2014 without the head coach who led him there, merely days away from post-season.

“It’s not good,” says one official to Yahoo Sports, who frequently attends practice and visits the Manning Center, the Ole Miss football facility.

“The players know. They read it all.”

Both Ole Miss and Kiffin are doing their best they can to avoid the drama and focus on the upcoming Egg Bowl instead, but it is just worsening situations in the Grove.

While they try and focus on the Egg Bowl for now, the announcement on Kiffin's future scheduled for Saturday will undeniable overshadow the thrill of an Egg Bowl win.
